Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet

A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.

Uncensored Bitcoin forum - This time for real

Bitcoin is the currency of the Internet: a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Unlike traditional currencies such as dollars, bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. As such, it is more resistant to wild inflation and corrupt banks. With Bitcoin, you can be your own bank. If you are new to Bitcoin, check out We Use Coins and Bitcoin.com.

New to Bitcoin read the FAQ/Getting Started/We Use Coin/Bitcoin.org. Any other tips towards getting off the ground and using this?

I opened a wallet on Coinbase and have an address. I messaged the bitcointip bot. Money won't show up on coin base for a few days.
Slowly reading all the articles on this subreddit as well.
Random question: Made a wallet address on Coinbase. Is it safe to post that around/store it or should I be careful with that Like a regular password?

We should learn from the mistakes of Litecoin: LTC is marketing itself with two use cases: 1) The silver of something something, 2) Testnet for BTC. That's not enough to be a top 10 coin anymore. Luckily, Bitcoin Cash is more than that!

We need to do something about the Bitcoin Cash logo. It becomes evident that green has prevailed. But its shape is inconsistent that impacts the visibility across different services. I think the bank note shape is not really useful as an icon, but rather the coin shape.

It is well known that segwit breaks the definition in the whitepaper of Bitcoin, "an electronic coin as a chain of digital signatures". So does BTC-Core even use "blockchain" technology anymore? I think if we referred to BTC-Core as the "segchain" it would be much more accurate.

The exchange is able to trade different coins and tokens (for example Bitcoin to Ethereum) and is a trusted third party for both the crypto project and token buyers. For our IEO we are using LATOKEN to mediate the purchase of our Droid Tokens.

We are funding the neXus with our Initial Exchange Offering (IEO). An IEO is when a cryptocurrency project sells its tokens on a cryptocurrency exchange to raise capital

If only this scam coin was never invented. We would actually see a lot of useful crypto projects related to blockchain flourish.
But because all crypto is tied to this scam coin any decent alt gets trashed whenever the whales decide to dump on the bag hodlers.
The only thing bitcoin is good for is speculative degenerate gambling to get rich.
How many of the whales that got rich from hodling from 2010-2013 actually believe in bitcoin instead of using it to get more fiat by dumping on bag hodlers? Probably almost none.
Shorting this ponzi to 5-6k and hopefully this ponzi will have another bull run in a year or 2 so I can make more fiat.

Bitcoin is good and has the best security, but is the most expensive and cumbersome to use, however the most popular and well recognized.
If you are a day trader than i recommend using ethereum or bitcoin cash because they are faster and cheaper to move around and have cheaper transaction costs.
if you are long holding than you want some bitcoin!

We're developing like crazy here on (the real) Bitcoin. People are just making, and others are using. Yet on BABcoin they can't even get their endians in order. They can't see the bigger picture of how their coin is slipping, and Chris Pacia is going to eat their dev fund.

We the founders of Bitseed, developers of bitcoin full node hardware. Our Assembly community uses colored coins to reward people who contribute to our open source projects. AMA!

Howdy bitcoiners :)
We are:
Jay Feldis jfeldis
Konn Danley kdanley42
Mike Doty bitseedmike
John Light lightcoin
We started Bitseed to give people an easy way to host the blockchain infrastructure that makes bitcoin possible. To this end, we've developed dedicated “plug-and-play” bitcoin full node hardware that makes it as easy as possible for anyone with a decent Internet connection to run a full node from their home or office – just plug the device into power and a router, and it'll start working (minor configuration necessary if your router doesn't support UPnP). We have some exciting plans for our platform – as they say, “money is just the first app” of the blockchain – and we're working hard to make this not just a great product for bitcoiners, but for everyone on the Internet.
To help us achieve our mission of supporting decentralization and open source, we've begun to open up our company and products to outside collaboration. We started a community on the Assembly platform so that people can contribute designs, code, marketing assets, product testing, and any other kind of valuable input that will help Bitseed grow into something much bigger than it is today. These contributions are tracked through Assembly using colored coins on the bitcoin blockchain, and when Bitseed earns revenues, we pay out a portion of the profits to our Assembly community – currently $1 per unit sold – which is then proportionally distributed as royalties to all of the people who have contributed and earned coins. This is our first step in what is sure to be a rewarding journey to help make open source development of p2p software sustainable.
We'd love to hear your feedback about Bitseed and answer any questions you might have about our product, our company, and our Assembly community. AMA!

Can we please just use the name Bitcoin Cash? The whole Bitcoin (BCH) name is confusing. Let's just be the superior coin and community. Eventually the names won't even matter...because the version that creates more adoption and a cheaper, faster experience will win out.

I think this whole name debate thing is just soooo stupid. It ONLY gives ammunition to the statists over at bitcoin to trick newcomers into thinking that Bitcoin Cash is a scam. I understand that name recognition and brand matters...but this is causing WAY more damage than it is doing good.
I really don't like the direction Bitcoin is going. It's clear to see that the vast majority of bitcoiners who are libertarians, ancaps, and who understand economics are here supporting Bitcoin Cash rather than the Core version of Bitcoin. The other sub (bitcoin) is just filled with memes, censorship, and people who are so tied to their investment that all they care about is the price going up so they can sell for fiat later.
Let's just be the better coin, the better community, and continue to create adoption around the world. Ultimately, that is what matters....not a couple of syllables in the name of the coin.
